We fear so deeply what we think other people see in us, so we talk in order to straighten out thier understanding. ... One of the fruits of silence is the freedom to let our justification rest entirely with God.

Silence, however, can be SO frightening. It's like being naked and vulnerable, with a God who is often themselves silent despite our lamentations and intercessions and urgings.
Silence is terrifying.
Silence is not easy. A lot of the time, praying in silence (meditation) is the most painful thing. There's a starkness, a stubbornness, even a fear of what is within.
It's often easier to just be active towards God and others, talking talking talking because we're maybe scared of how much we are known.
I like this.
