Are you kidding me? Is this for real? This is awful! What kind of a heartless system would force a guy to keep working in that state? Or maybe more to the point, what kind of staff would not recognize shock when they see it and take care of their co-worker/employee? This is crazy!

Don't worry, Nan. It's the Onion. Nothing's real. I'm sure they think it proves some sort of point, but I have no idea what it actually is.
